Semaglutide (Generic Ozempic®)

Medication Overview

Semaglutide (Generic Ozempic®) is a prescription injection used with diet and exercise to treat Type 2 diabetes in adults, priced at $49 per week. It also reduces the risk of heart attack, stroke, and death in those with heart disease. Ozempic is injected once per week, starting at 0.25 mg and increasing to 0.5 mg after 4 weeks, with a maximum dose of 2 mg per week.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

  • Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, and constipation. Other effects may include indigestion, acid reflux, low blood sugar, and dizziness. Most side effects improve over time, but consult a doctor if they persist.

  • Serious side effects include signs of thyroid cancer, pancreatitis, kidney problems, gallbladder issues, and allergic reactions. If these occur, contact a healthcare provider immediately. Always consult a doctor to see if Ozempic is right for you.
